Lot 4760
Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 17 mm, 2.78 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Ticinum, irregular mint, after 320. CONSTAN-TINVS AV [sic] Laureate head of Constantine I to right. Rev. D N CONSTANTI MAX AV / T around wreath containing VOT / XX in two lines. Cf. RIC 140 (for prototype). A very well made imitation. Very minor weakness and with a small die break on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

The style of this coin is clearly unofficial, indicating that it is a contemporary 'barbarous' imitation. In addition, there are errors in the legends on both sides and the mint mark is just a single T .
